Aims and Scope
The Journal of Analytical Science and Technology (JAST) is an open access peer-reviewed scientific journal printed biannually (March, September).
JAST was launched by Korea Basic Science Institute in 2010.
JAST publishes original research and review articles on all aspects of analytical principles, techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment.
JAST¡¯s vision is to be an internationally influential and widely read analytical science journal.
Our mission is to inform and stimulate researchers to make significant professional achievements in science.
We aim to provide scientists, researchers, and students worldwide with unlimited access to the latest advances of the analytical sciences.

The Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) has focused its efforts on the analytical sciences by developing novel analytical technologies and equipment since 1988.
In 2009, together with Chungnam National University, KBSI established the Graduate School of Analytical Science and Technology (GRAST) that specializes in the analytical sciences and technologies.
Launching JAST in 2010 was the second step of KBSI¡¯s efforts towards the advancement of analytical sciences.

Accelerating the evolution of science by providing open access to original research papers
Printed biannually, JAST is immediately available online without any charge for access. We believe that published research results, discoveries and ideas are the foundation for progress in science. Making articles freely available online provides the researchers in this field with the latest information and discoveries. Open access guarantees the authors that their papers be read by many colleagues working in related fields.

Inspiring researchers by challenging innovation of methods and techniques
JAST has introduced ¡°Technical Notes,¡± which reports new developments and significant applications in analytical technology and equipment that do not yet have a complete theoretical foundation.

Due to the multidisciplinary nature of our field, JAST will serve as an ongoing means of communication among scientists and researchers worldwide.

Editorial Office
The JAST editorial office is located on the Ochang Science Complex Campus of the Korea Basic Science Institute, which provides an ideal research environment for basic science with the availability of world-class research equipment such as HVEM, which is used in various fields for directly observing even an atomic unit of material; FTICR MS, which has the world record (measurement error within 0.5 ppm) for accuracy of mass measurement; HF-NMR, which is utilized in the investigation of gene function and analyzing proteins and nucleic acids; and HRSIMS, which can be utilized in the analysis of isotopes and microelements in the field of environmental science.
